Opportunities to learn and get valuable contacts are always just around the corner. The most recent chance came to me in the end of April, when Tellyo was selected to take part in Finnish broadcasting company Yle’s accelerator program for media startups. Getting a glimpse inside to the biggest broadcaster in the country is an opportunity you just don’t want to miss!
Since we are just about to launch our new service Tellyo Pro to broadcasters and digital publishers, the Yle Media Accelerator is also a great chance to speed up our customer development and validate the assumptions related to Tellyo Pro’s offering.
There is about ten companies accepted to the program – all with very different ideas from interactive cat videos to anonymous user authentication to make their dent in the world of rapidly changing media. So far we have had a very intense program with series of interesting lectures and very fruitful mentoring sessions with experienced entrepreneurs and media professionals. The four week ride is having its festive ending in the Arctic15 conference on 26th – 27th May , where the participating teams are pitching their ideas to the investors in the demo day.
The Yle Media Accelerator is now being organized for the second time, and Yle is hosting the program in co- operation with Arctic Startup, Helsinki Ventures and Catapult. Here are some of our fellow startups participating in the Yle Media Accelerator that are worth keeping an eye on:
- Corgi – let’s you read news, right on the lock screen
- Jouk – creates moments. It is a hyperlocal app for pre-icebreaking
- Sentab is an inclusive social TV for older adults to combat senior loneliness
- The Deep Content Company is the submarine of video content searching
- Glome is a single-sign on service to help businesses improve user acquisition and retention
See you in Arctic15!
